Making Money Using Twitter

Twitter is a social networking service that allows users to share their status in less than 140 characters. It seems like everyone has a Twitter account nowadays. You’ve got famous actors using it Ashton Kutcher and Charlie Sheen. Musicians like Rhianna and Lady Gaga are known to tweet up a storm. Athletes like Shaquille O’Neil and LeBron James are active on Twitter as well. Then you’ve got every news channel, tv show, local business and websites all with their own Twitter account. Even if you think it’s silly, you’ve got to admit that a lot of eyes are glued to Twitter screens. That means there is money to be made there.
The way to make money on Twitter involves sending out Tweets that contain advertising on them. The end goal is to have people view the tweet, click and purchase the item being advertised. This is easier said than done though, but if you follow the steps in this post you too can make money on Twitter.

Followers

You can’t make any money on Twitter if you don’t have lots of Twitter followers. But you’re not some sort of famous celebrity nor do you have a television show where you can plaster your Twitter username everywhere. So how can you get more Twitter followers? There are many different ways. First, there are online sites that will sell you Twitter followers (be wary of these, as many are fake Twitter profiles who’ll be joining your page). Another method of attracting more Twitter fans is to follow people similar to yourself. The more people you follow the more you get your face out to the public. Another method involves getting involved. Communicate with other Twitter members and retweet their posts. But by far the best method of obtaining more Twitter fans is by posting great content frequently. The better content you put on Twitter the more your followers will retweet your tweets.

Sponsored Tweets

Now that you have a good amount of Twitter followers you can begin selling them something. Don’t go posting ad after ad though. You’ll want to throw one advertisement in there amidst dozens and dozens of really good tweets. But what do you sell? There are affiliate marketing sites out there that will pay you a flat fee for every item you sell. It’s a commission based thing (pay per sale). The more you sell the more you make. There are also other companies who will pay you for every person who clicks on your ad (pay per click). Finally, there are other companies who will pay you a flat fee for simply tweeting out a message. After contacting them they’ll look at your Twitter profile and see how many visitors you have, the type of tweets you usually do, the level of interaction between you and your followers and your location. Then they’ll determine how much money to pay you to tweet.
